About Montreal Wado Ryu Karate Association
​Montreal Wado Ryu Karate Association was founded from a deep passion, shared vision, and commitment to making martial arts training accessible and engaging.

Since 2008, we have helped students build strong foundations, develop new skills, and grow with confidence in their martial arts journey.


Sensei Andrew Watson
Native to Jamaica with roots in Britain, founder of the London Wado Ryu Association (LWRA) and chief instructor at Montreal Wado Ryu Karate Association. Sensei Andrew Watson comes with over 30 years of martial arts experience.

Sensei Andrew has a 5th Dan Black Belt in Wado Ryu Karate and is also a kickboxing instructor.. He is actively involved in continually developing community partnerships in this regard and a member of the NDG Community Council.
​
He teaches Karate to Grade 1- 6 students at Roslyn Elementary, Merton Elementary, Edinburgh Elementary and Solomon Schechter Academy.
His teaching philosophy is rooted in the practical application of self-defense, instilling motivation and self-confidence through the disciplined practice of Karate.
​


A Japanese martial art form, developing the entire body through rigorous training, with an emphasis on practical self-defense techniques which are practiced in a controlled environment. Benefits of karate include increased agility, coordination, strength, flexibility and discipline. As with most martial arts, karate is 90% mental and 10 percent physical.
